How Does R2 Recycling Work?

When you’re ready to dispose of your old laptops, hard drives and smart devices, do you just take them to your landfill? While you may think recycling is a responsible move for your company, it may not be the most secure. Many security breaches happen when abandoned laptops are brought to the landfill and successfully hacked leaving a treasure trove of information for hackers.

Securely Recycle Your Electronics with Ship n Destroy

Our process includes checking all electronics for information-storing media such as flash drives and hard drives. Then, we securely remove the media and destroy it. The hardware is then tagged for secure recycling at an R2 certified recycle center

What it Means to Be R2 Certified
According to Thomas Certification,”R2 certification (sometimes referred to as responsible recycling certification) is a company level certification based on the R2 standard overseen by the R2 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The standard is described as “Responsible Recycling (“R2″) Practices for Use in Accredited Certification Programs for Electronics Recyclers”. The standard requires certified companies to have a policy on managing used and end-of-life electronics equipment, components and materials based on strategies such as reuse, materials and energy recovery and/or disposal.”
