October is Cyber Security Month
Fight the Phish – Keep Your Emails Safe and Off-The-Hook
As we surf through our endless emails, chances are, a suspicious email will garner our attention. How do you know if it’s a phishing attack?
- Check the email address – even if it’s coming from someone you know, the email address will tell you more. If the address is unfamiliar, don’t open it.
- Avoid opening attachments from unknown senders – follow it up with a phone call to make certain it’s coming from a legitimate source.
Protecting Connected Devices
- Secure your wi-fi router – use a complicated password to thwart attempts on break-in.
- Update your devices – make certain to keep up-to-date on security patches.
- Do NOT throw away old smart phones, laptops or tablets. Have them securely destroyed in a NAID certified facility.
If you’re concerned about a security breach through your company’s smart devices, you can have them safely and securely destroyed at our NAID certified facility.
