The 5 Smart Phones to Watch for in 2020
New Releases we’re excited about and what to do with your old phones
With a new year brings new gear and here are the phones to watch for in 2020:
- Samsung Galaxy S11 series – Word on the street? This phone will have the wider-spread 5G capability (standard on every Snapdragon 865 chipset) and enormous megapixel cameras – up to 108MP. Hopefully, this series will keep the 3.5mm headphone jack.
- iPhone 12 – While the iPhone 11 series launched last September, the rumors are flying that iPhone 12 may hit the street in 1st Qtr 2020.
- Google Pixel 4A – With a tentative release date of May 2020, industry leaks indicate the device will have a rear fingerprint scanner as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack, two features missing from the Pixel 4, but it’ll take the newer device’s square camera bump (despite there only seeming to be one rear snapper).
- Huwaei P40 Pro – According to Tech Radar, “Because of the ongoing Huawei ban, new smartphones from the company can’t use any Google apps (including the Play Store), greatly restricting their capabilities and value versus other smartphones. When the Huawei Mate 30 Pro launched it had no such apps, and we couldn’t even give it a full review as a result.”
- Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 – With an expected release date of February 2020, according to Tech Radar, “A source suggests the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will have a slightly dated chipset, but that might mean a lower price. Plus, we know the (expected) release date of the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2: February 11 2020, hopefully alongside the Samsung Galaxy S11 and Galaxy Buds Plus.”
Should you keep your old phone? NO! Here’s why:
- Security risk – Even if you THINK you’ve wiped your old phone, there are ways to access old data. Millions have been made (and lost) in fees and fines related to jail-breaking old phones.
- Fire risk – Keeping an old lithium battery is a fire risk – especially if it’s saved in an old nightstand or purse.
